What Are UFPs?
Ultrafine Particles refer to the very small particles and dust that accumulate in our indoor environment and become so fine that they become aerosolized. UFPs “are believed to have several more aggressive health implications than those classes of larger particulates.
All indoor occupant activity generates particles, skin cells, dander, dust mite fecal matter, mold, metals, etc. over time. These particles break down and become UFPs. These particles are repeatedly pulverized by conventional vacuuming, mechanical system agitation, occupant activity, road traffic vibration, wind, and gravity.
How Do We Control This Indoor Accumulation Of Harmful Air Pollution?
Very few modern cleaning techniques can independently remove Respirable Suspended Particulates (RSPs) from our indoor environments (less than 10 microns). Airborne particles are made up of dust, dander, pollen, smoke, bacteria, viruses, mold spores, and other airborne matter virtually too small to see. They can affect a person’s general health as well. Children, the elderly, pregnant women and people with chronic respiratory issues can be especially susceptible to RSPs. Sources of airborne particles include dust, plants, smoke, dirt on shoes, and many activities common in buildings including work activity and cleaning.
Typical household vacuums are designed to remove large visible particles (more than 300 microns).Typical cleaning methods simply re-aerosolize these fine particles.
Who Is At Risk?
Immune-compromised individuals, allergy, asthma sufferers, people with respiratory distress, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, children, or pregnant women may become environmentally hypersensitive. Ultra-fine particle cleaning has been proven to relieve common respiratory symptoms and to provide a cleaner, healthier environment.
What Can You Do?
The Healthy Home Center has developed a comprehensive cleaning procedure involving a multi-step, day-long process to reduce your environment UFP exposure.
- Aggressive, manual brush, agitated duct cleaning while simultaneously flushing the home with five air changes per hour. Accelerated household air dilution during HEPA duct cleaning to exhaust all aerosolized dust generated during duct agitation.
- Immediate home total dust aerosolization (compressed air agitation).
- After two hours of aggressive dilution (air exchange), all HazMat equipment is converted to HEPA filtration mode. Numerous “air scrubbers” are arranged in the home to scrub or HEPA filter indoor air while technicians perform true HEPA vacuuming, damp mopping, damp wiping all flat surfaces to remove settled spores and particles.
- Final air cleaning is completed by relocation of air scrubbing units room by room rendering the indoor environment to a healthier state, easy to maintain with regular UFP cleaning.
Our experienced cleaning technicians are actually Bio-Remediation (ABRA), mold (IICRC), asbestos (253W) certified, and security and police checked dedicated specialists. Our UFP cleaning is derived from our HazMat experience.
